As of recently I started to go to this place.I work in midtown and where I work food is overpriced and very mediocre and where I live I can't stomach those Crown and Kennedy Fried Chicken places which seems to be the only places open late nights so as I get off that 1 train before I continue my trip over the bridge to the Bronx I checked this place out, as a friend of mine who live around the area reccomend. Its a bit rinky dinky and old looking inside but I guess that's part of the charm lol.The chicken is made right before your eyes on the premises and it tastes just like your mom's chicken, well seasoned, flavorful, juicy, crispy and I love their yellow Spanish rice.It can be kind of loud with the spanish music blaring and the ladies tend to be a bit chatty amongst each other but they still do their best to give prompt service, prices are good too. I love the local dominican vibe of this place,it's not trying to be a trendy eatery and I'm fine with that,as long as the food taste great which it does.

The fried chicken here is amazing! Absolutely amazing. Crispy and well seasoned. The fries tend to be under cooked though.

Been coming here since I was a child. The combos and chicken sandwiches got me through most of my life! The workers will already know what you want to order once you visit long enough and will be generous with their portions since you are a regular. They have rotisserie chickens on display by the window as they are being cooked. Try the #1 combo that comes with legs wings and thighs for just $4. The taste is just so rich! The food is fried so try not to go overboard. Give it a try whenever you have the midnight munchies.

This past weekend I was in the NYC area to visit family and friends and needed a spot to get food during the late night hours so I decided on Johns fried chicken. Haven't been here in a long while but being born and raised in NYC, I have been coming here for years growing up. The flavor and the taste never changes. The fried chicken always has the fresh delicious taste with that hint of lemon when you bite into it and that great crunchiness that makes you want more but hey it's not everyday that I eat fried chicken so it doesn't hurt me to cheat once awhile when I want to go outside my regular healthy eating habits.

If you've read my reviews, you know I'm a huge fan of Popeye's "Louisiana" Fried Chicken, and that in my recent travels in rural Louisiana, I actually ATE authentic Louisiana fried chicken. I heard the buzz about John's and knew I had to check it out. The place has gotten attention after the NY Daily News named this non-descript Inwood chicken shop "the best" fried chicken in NYC. As it happens, I live 5 minutes away and decided to stop after the gym. (Way to cancel out that work, MC! STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!) I digress. "Non-descript" is an understatement for John's. The place looks like a total dump outside and inside, but as those who follow the Hole in the Wall Principle (HWP) know, this actually means the food is really good, and they aren't trying to pull a fast one on you with internal decor and typical Manhattan restaurant pageantry. So how was the fried chicken? It's a different flavor from Popeye's, and I won't say it was BETTER, but I definitely loved the taste of it. Kinda has a cajun feel to it. I also didn't have a lot of dry mouth afterwards, which means they didn't go heavy on the sodium and garlic salt. The seasoning definitely is a little spicy, and if you're sensitive, be sure not to order like 6 pieces and scarf them down. Will I be back? I will indeed. They also have whole/half rotisserie chickens and other "grub" that looked like a good time. Along with IHOP, John's Fried Chicken has earned the coveted "Merlin 5." #merlinfive
